GOVERNMENT HOUSE,

14th May, 1923.

129

My Lord Duke,

I have the honour to forward for Your Grace's

consideration the enclosed copy of a letter received from three firms of General Medical Practitioners in this Colony. This question of the so-called competition of the Government hospitals with the practice of private doctora

is raised periodically and I should be glad therefore of any information you can give me of the custom prevailing in other Colonies as regards facilities for medical attendance to the public.

The patient referred to, though he paid no specific fee for the operation, was charged the usual hospita fees for treatment in all Government hospitals and asylums.

I have the honour to be,

My Lord Duke,

Your Grace's most obedient

A

humble servant,

B.E. Stutts

Governor, &c.

HE RIGHT HONOURABLE

THE DUKE OF DEVONSHIRE, K.G.,

80.
